"After Nothing but home (the house as a starting point) and Desperate cars (the destiny of cars in the photographer's neighborhood), Sébastien Girard dedicates his third volume Under house arrest to the plight of plants. Entrapped behind gates and bars, these mute prisoners in our houses and gardens continue to follow nature?s call. Their wildness, which we try to tame, is revealed here in its full force. Entangled and injured by metal, they fight back and they display their irresistible desire to roam free." (Dalpine)
"Sebastien Girard (b.1970) didn't study photography but architecture. In 1990 he realized the importance of the photobook as a medium with the discovery of a japanese version of Ed van der Elsken's famous book BAGARA. Since this time photobooks have become his main obsession. In 2009, Girard self-published his first book Nothing but Home. Then, in 2010, came Desperate Cars, the second book of the series. And finally, in 2011, the third volume has been published: Under House Arrest." (Dalpine)
