A former assistant and friend of Helmut Newton (1920-2004), Los Angeles based Just Loomis spent the 1980s working as a fashion photographer for such magazines as Harper's Bazaar and The New York Times, before turning to portrait and documentary photography in 1990. In these photographs, Loomis presents an honest view of everyday life in America, that the photographer June Newton (Alice Springs) describes as, 'without artifice of any kind? I call them a perfect example of Americana.'
